What is Traffolyte?

Traffolyte is a type of multi-layered plastic laminate commonly used for engraving signs, labels, and tags. It consists of different coloured layers, allowing for a high-contrast effect when engraved. The top layer is removed during the engraving process to reveal the contrasting colour beneath, making the text and designs highly legible.

Key Features of Traffolyte:

  • Durability: Resistant to chemicals, heat, and wear.

  • Contrast: Provides clear, high-contrast markings after engraving.

  • Non-Conductive: Often used for electrical and industrial labels.

  • Customisation: Available in different colours and thicknesses.

Common Uses:

  • Electrical and safety labels

  • Nameplates and plaques

  • Machine identification tags

  • Valve and pipe markers

It was originally developed by Metropolitan-Vickers in the UK and is now widely used in industrial, commercial, and safety applications.
